Industrialization and CO2 Emissions in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Mitigating Role of Renewable Electricity

This study aims to explore the relationship between industry value added, renewable energy, and CO2 emissions in a sample of 44 Sub-Saharan African countries over period 2000–2015. makes several important contributions extant research. While existing research was focused on energy-CO2 nexus, current assesses moderating role renewables sector industrialization-CO2 relationship. In addition, this considers whether EKC relationships will hold after accounting for structural transformations (including industrial GDPs). Moreover, we are revising existence framework countries. Using two-step system GMM estimator, found that share GDP has significant positive impact emissions, while electricity output reduces emissions.
